Maggie Mae Gallagher geeks out at Cincy Comic Expo
Maggie Mae Gallagher, author of Ruptured (A Cantati Chronicles Prequel Novella), shares her geek-out fun at the recent Cincinnati Comic Expo.
Maggie Mae: This past weekend, I had the consummate pleasure of signing at Cincinnati Comic Expo with the lovely CL Wilson, Shiloh Walker and Sheila English. I am such a huge geek that it was a little surreal to be in a booth surrounded by comic artists and media guests I have adored for so long. I've attended comic cons before, but this was my first time as an exhibitor. I think it's one of the reasons that I write urban fantasy. I love being a geek, and getting the opportunity to join in with my fellow lovers of everything geeky was such a wonderful experience.
The expo brought in a ton of media guests, and there were a few individuals on my list that I knew I just had to meet. On Friday evening, I was on a mission. I had to meet one of my all-time favorite actors, John Rhys-Davies, who played Gimli in The Lord of the Rings film trilogy and Sallah in the Indiana Jones trilogy.
Not only did I want to meet him, but I wanted to see if I could get a picture of him holding one of my books. He was the perfect gentleman, eloquent, humble, and truly interested in every person who stopped at his booth. John gifted me with this rare photograph that I will be forever grateful for and have reserved a special spot for on my mantel.

In the booth next to John was William Kircher, who played Bifur in Peter Jackson's adaptation of The Hobbit trilogy with the third and final installment, The Hobbit: The Battle of Five Armies, set to release this December.
You may not be able to tell by the photograph, but at this point I was on cloud nine. I had had two actors from some of my favorite movies hold Anointed, the first book in my Cantati Chronicles series.
These two photos set a trend for the ensuing weekend. Every cosplay artist who strolled past my booth I flagged down. I wanted to see how many of my geek favorites I could snap a picture with them reading Anointed! There was the nifty, bubbly Jawa, the dangerous bounty hunter Boba Fett, and a Storm Trooper from Star Wars.
Elsa and Anna from Frozen were captivated by the story and asked about my latest release, Ruptured. And I even had two caped crusaders, Batman and Robin, search for answers to their latest campaign in their quest to save the city of Gotham.
My mission for this weekend had been accomplished. I had such a delightful time getting to meet all the cos-players, media personalities, authors, and readers who stopped by our booth. When was the last time you had a chance to geek out and what did you do?
Here's the blurb about Ruptured:
It has been eighty-three years since the walls between Earth and Infernus fell, and now our world stands upon the razor's edge of extinction. Demon platoons are marching upon us. My home, one of humanity's last bastions of existence, is under siege.
My name is Alana Devereaux. I am the resident demon detector of Cantati Forces and Platoon Commander. My job is to hunt down the vermin unleashed upon my world, and I love it. I live for the day I can kick every last demon's ass out of this world. Except as enemy forces reign down terror upon us, the Densare Council sentences me to a fate worse than death.
