Sweet Romance Report: Melinda Curtis shares 4 in her TBR pile
OK, there are a lot of books on my to-be-read pile — a lot more than I'll ever admit to Mr. Curtis. (Be honest. You lose track of the number of books you haven't read on your e-reader, too, don't you?) I read widely across romance subgenres, from sweet to hotter and from contemporary to paranormal. Sweet romances have no explicit sex, but most still create that heart-fluttering feeling of falling in love. Here are four titles in my sweet TBR pile for the month of November.
• Together for Christmas, four holiday stories by Debbie Macomber, Brenda Novak, Sheila Roberts, and RaeAnne Thayne. These are four contemporary holiday romances set in the small towns created by some of my favorite authors. All but Brenda Novak's are sweet, but since I regularly read Brenda, I didn't mind at all.
• The Mistletoe Melody by Jennifer Snow. In this contemporary, Brad Monroe returns to Brookhollow three years after the accident that killed his best friend — Melody's husband — and expects Melody to be civil? Please. He'd been the only one who'd survived the tragedy. She's spent that time grieving, working three jobs, struggling to raise her boys and keep a roof over their heads. Now it's Christmas and she's losing ground on all fronts, and not about to forgive and forget. Or give Brad the one thing that could save them all.
And for those who aren't yet ready to read a holiday romance …
• The Unexpected Honeymoon by Barbara Wallace. In this contemporary, widower Carlos Chavez manages La Joya del Mayan, the most romantic resort in Mexico. On good days, the romance passes unnoticed; on dark days, it only reminds him of his loss. But the honeymoon suite's latest guest, Larissa Boyd, has rocked his steadfastness. This beauty seems lost. And no wonder. She's on a honeymoon for one!
• Her Secondhand Duke by Aileen Fish. In this Regency, the Duke of Langley is under pressure to marry, but every young lady he sets his sights on falls for another man. When he suggests marriage to Lady Charlotte, she turns him down, claiming she has no desire to be his wife. Never one to back down from a challenge, Langley is determined to find out just what it would take to change her mind.
