Cristin Harber shares her top 5 hot fictional military heroes
Cristin Harber, author of Hart Attack, book seven in her Titan series, shares some of her favorite military heroes.
Cristin: I've been reading and watching military heroes steal hearts since long before I wrote the Titan series. Whether in books or on the big screen, they often have heart, live by a code, breathe honor and are wounded, burdened and need love. Here's a list of fictional military heroes who have stuck with me and influenced my writing.
• Matt McKinney stole my heart in Claudia Connor's Worth the Fall. He's a Navy SEAL harboring a promise to his dying best friend while forging a deep connection with a pregnant single mom of four. He can toss a football on the beach with the kiddos with the same confidence he has when defending his country. All of that makes him swoon-worthy, but couple those traits with a story told with such mastery, and Worth the Fall// and Matt McKinney top my list.
• Kristen Ashley's Raiden "Raid" Miller is the hometown hero who carries a heavy burden after serving. He's intense while being sweet, and when he realizes why Hannah was made for him, the story squeezes your heart.
• Cameron Moore is a Delta Force operative in Stephanie Tyler's Lie With Me. He's on the hook to the CIA and outrunning a murder accusation, but he can't help his growing attraction to a woman he sees as his only way out. His training and background make him as dangerous as he is sexy.
• Ragnar Lothbrok was a Viking hero and Norse ruler whose tales of power and conquests have been made into Vikings, a television show on The History Channel. Ragnar, played by Travis Fimmel, is restless and conflicted, encumbered with a call for greatness and tempted by desires. No matter his mistakes or family issues, one look into Fimmel's eyes while he issues an edict can cause heart palpitations.
• Sam Hanna from NCIS: LA is a Navy SEAL turned NCIS agent, and he's married to a CIA agent. Forget the fact that he's a certified hottie (played by LL Cool J); his character loves deeply and loyally. He lives by a SEAL's code of conduct. He's honorable, protective and highly intelligent. Plus, he's funny and keeps Deeks on his toes (and I love Deeks!).
Here's the blurb about Hart Attack (courtesy of Mill Creek Press):
Outside of Titan Group, there are few people that Roman Hart would die for. He's a soldier, a protector, and he's haunted that one of the people he should've been able to protect didn't let him. That was years ago, and now a hardened heart and a cocky attitude are his impenetrable shields, until one woman—one challenge—drives him to distraction.
On the outside, Beth Tourne has it all. Luxury car, gorgeous condo, and a job partying with the rich and famous. It's a plush CIA cover, but she wants more. Anything for an adrenaline rush that can override her guilty numbness and let her forget the tragedy she never saw coming.
Their scars make them perfect operatives. Their mirrored pasts give them deep, wounded reasons to stay alone. But the more they ignore the tension, the more vulnerable they become. Survival means trust. In one another, behind closed doors, and on the job. The only way they're making it out alive is if they find peace while waging a war.
