Author Tracy Brogan recs some perfect winter reads
Bestselling author Tracy Brogan, whose Love Me Sweet is out now, offers some hot books to heat up the chilly nights.
Tracy: When the weather outside is frightful, what better way to pass the time than snuggled up under a warm, fuzzy blanket? Sometimes it's fun to invite someone to tangle up with you, but other evenings you might just want to sprawl out on that couch with a good book! Love Me Sweet could be just the one you're looking for.
Delaney Masterson is a reality-show darling on the run from accidental scandal. Grant Connelly is Bell Harbor's wandering son finally home from his travels as an adventure-show cameraman. Unforeseen circumstances convince them to share a house, but it's a harsh winter storm that encourages them to share some body heat, and it doesn't take long before their defenses melt. Add in an unexpected road trip, some honky-tonk musicians and a few Elvis impersonators and you'll have all you need to keep the winter blues away.
Want some other great books to chase away the chill and keep you warm in the glow of romance? How about a visit to Anchor Island with More to Give? In this final installment of Terri Osburn's bestselling series, sexy hotelier Sam Edwards reunites with Callie Henderson and learns she's not the same woman he knew before. Time has changed things, and some wounds leave hidden scars. I thoroughly enjoyed watching the evolution of their relationship as Sam and Callie worked to renovate a rundown hotel before Christmas. I might have even had a little tear at the end! Their chemistry is palpable, steamy and fun, and this is a lovely, lively story about second chances offering new beginnings.
If you're looking for something a little scandalous with a dramatic flair and a dash of family drama, try Caught in the Act by Kim Law. It's the second book in her Davenport romance series where sex and politics collide. While Law's Sugar Springs series is full of sweet moments and colorful characters (which I love!), the Davenports are ambitious, hungry and lusty! (Which I also love!) In this book, Catherine Davenport Carlton is summering in Maine while riding out the storm of past scandals that threaten the reputation of her politically minded family. Cue a sexy old boyfriend, and suddenly her summer is looking hotter, which just might keep you warm this winter. Law gives her characters a wonderful richness, allowing them to be appealing in spite of their flaws. You'll be cheering for them to find their happily ever after.
Still not thawed out? Then you need Fire Me Up by Kimberly Kincaid. This is the last story of her Pine Mountain Series, and finally, super-sexy chef Adrian Holt meets his match! When paramedic Teagan O'Malley has to patch him up after a motorcycle accident, it's strictly business. But when he offers to help her with her father's pub, things get hot, hot, hot in the kitchen. Kincaid delivers the goods like few other authors, her prose peppered with wonderfully evocative images, steamy love scenes and descriptions of food that will make your mouth water. Don't read hungry! But definitely read it!
Now, for those of you who like your fireside romance to have a historical flavor (which I often do!), I highly recommend Her Highland Fling, a Victorian-set digital novella by Jennifer McQuiston. McQuiston hit the scene with her breakout novel, What Happens in Scotland, and this story takes readers back to wonderful Moraig for some Highland Games. Never one to create a conventional heroine, McQuiston features in this book a female journalist who hungers for professional respect and finds that and so much more when she encounters the book's delicious hero. Next up for McQuiston is Diary of an Accidental Wallflower. You won't want to miss that one, either!
If you like your historical romance with a wonderful side of espionage, you'll certainly want to get In Bed With a Spy. Alyssa Alexander is one of my favorite authors for her ability to describe a character with just a few words yet deliver a delightful sense of the personality underneath. I fell in love with her debut novel, The Smuggler Wore Silk, and this next story takes readers on a journey with the delicious Marquess of Angelstone. Codename: Angel. (How could you not fall for a hero with a codename?) Angel's hunt for an assassin leads him right into the arms of the beautiful and enigmatic Lilias Fairchild, a widow with secrets. Some even she doesn't know about! Discover what's between the covers of this Regency romantic suspense and you'll forget all about the lousy weather outside!
Warm islands, reality stars, sexy firefighters, mysterious spies, scandal, romance, regardless of your favorite genre, no matter what type of hero makes you melt, there's certainly a book here that will warm you up right down to your toes. Happy reading!
