S.M. Butler highlights summer military romances

S.M. Butler, author of Once Upon a SEAL (out now!), book five in her Lucky Thirteen series, shares four other military romances coming out this summer, and perfect for buying or preordering on Memorial Day.

S.M.: There are always awesome books coming out, but in the summer, I find it's easier to read. With the kids out of school, and having less time to myself, I tend to hide away in the corner and read. I stock up on great books. So I thought I would put together a quick list of May and June releases that I'm looking forward to this year. The best part of my career is that I do get to meet most of the authors of whom I'm a fan, and this list is no different.

My favorites to read during the summer are military romances (which makes sense, since I write them) and romantic suspense that feature military heroes. There's something about the danger and the drama that these couples have to overcome in order to be together.

Love on a Spring Morning by Zoe York (June 2)

Zoe York always does an amazing job captivating her audience. This new series of hers? Small-town military romance. OMG, yes, please. It's a gorgeously written series with amazingly hot heroes. She just has this knack of creating these loveable characters that you just want to read about. You want to know their hopes and dreams and how they'll overcome their failures. And she knocks it out of the park every single time. I'm so excited for her next one coming out in late June, Fall Deep. I think it's going to be awesome.

SEAL's Code by Sharon Hamilton (June 30)

I first came across Sharon's Bad Boys of SEAL Team 3 series when we were in a box set together last year. She has a very unique writing style that I admire greatly. One thing I love about Sharon's books is her brilliant ability to give us a glimpse into the tight camaraderie of Navy SEALs. It's something that isn't publicized very much, nor could it really be told. So I'm excited to see her next book coming in a few short weeks. Bring it, Sharon. I'm ready.

Navy SEAL Newlywed by Elle James (June 1)

You know, I was totally sold on this book the second I saw the tagline: "Here comes the bride … gun at her side." For real. Elle James excels at strong characters and tight writing, so I'm ready to grab this one off the shelf as soon as I see it. She starts off her books with all the drama and action you'd ever want and hooks you right into the story. Yeah, so I really look forward to this one.

Falling Hard by HelenKay Dimon (Tuesday)

I've read some books from HelenKay before, and I love them. Her writing is elegant and clean. And I have a thing for black ops books, so this book is high up on my wish list for the month.

About Once Upon a SEAL: I'm superexcited about this book. This story jumped into my heart one day and wouldn't let go. SO much so that I originally wrote a short story for it for an anthology and then had to expand it because it wasn't enough for this couple. They needed a full story. Now, every time I think about Maddie and Bastian, I smile. I think everyone is going to love Maddie and Bastian's story as much as I do. And I'm so happy it's finally out.

Military romances and romantic suspense with military heroes always top my list when I go looking for new reads. I love the excitement and adventure that come along in these books with the romantic storyline, all weaved into a delicious little story that I'll read over and over again. So that's what I'm excited for this month. How about you?
