R.T. Wolfe falls for sea turtles while researching 'Island Secrets'

R.T. Wolfe, author of Island Secrets, book one in the Island Escape series, shares a tidbit about her experience learning about sea turtles in Florida.

R.T.: Who would have known the interest I would receive from writing a story set on a fictitious island off the western coast of Florida that involved characters who work with sea turtles? I've had a reader actually squeal with excitement over this newly released romantic suspense novel. The Clearwater family is indeed fun, passionate, intuitive and loves working with sea turtle conservation.

I couldn't have done it without help from Anna Maria Island Turtle Watch & Shorebird Bird Monitoring conservation group. They've taken me under their wing — or should I say, on their four-wheelers — to learn everything there is to know about these amazing creatures. Said four-wheeler often picked me up long before dawn to check for tracks and nests. We gathered hatchlings that emerged in dangerous daylight hours and rescued distressed juvenile Loggerheads from the gulf. The first week I spent on the island, I didn't put on my swimsuit once. And I loved every minute.

Now, in Island Secrets, we have three Clearwater sisters, each who have a part in sea turtle conservation and each who have a passion to find their murdered brother's killer. Zoe carries the most guilt as she was the one responsible for her brother on his last and fatal dive into the blue-green waters. She spends her time searching for clues and avoiding her childhood nemesis, Dane Corbin, as she does so. Unfortunately, he is her boss, completely fascinating in his world travels and treasure hunting, and completely in love with Zoe.

In the midst of saving a species, how will they ever find a killer and keep from falling for each other?
