Authors' favorite summer dates include mountain and Florida picnics
Today's featured authors — Vicki Lewis Thompson, Catherine Mann and Beth Cornelison — each describe her perfect summertime date.
Vicki Lewis Thompson, author of Midnight Thunder
Summers are hot in the desert, so my perfect date would take place in the nearby mountains next to a bubbling mountain stream. My guy has brought finger food and chilled white wine in a small cooler, along with cloth napkins and goblets. He's checked out the location ahead of time so he knows it's an undiscovered hideaway where we can lounge on a flat rock and dangle our bare toes in the water while we savor our picnic and each other in the cool pines.
About Midnight Thunder:
Thunder Mountain Ranch was the only place cowboy Cade Gallagher had ever called home. But after he and Lexi Simmons broke each other's hearts, he left it behind, along with his foster family. Since then, Cade has drifted, looking for something—anything—to call home. Until a call from Lexi changes everything. Cade has been gone too long. His foster mother is hospitalized, and the ranch is in deep financial trouble. Yet even as his world crumbles, Cade's hunger for Lexi is almost as tangible as the taste of her lips and the way her body fits deliciously against his. It's bittersweet surrender. But Lexi isn't the girl she used to be, and she's determined to have the hot cowboy in her bed only if she keeps him out of her heart.

Catherine Mann, author of Pursued by the Rich Rancher
I'm totally a beach girl, have been from childhood, so it's a gift to live on the Gulf Coast. My perfect summer date would be an outdoor venue, by the ocean, wine and seafood, with steel-drum music in the background. And while this may sound quirky, if the outdoor venue is dog friendly, then that adds THE perfect touch. We take our shepherd/husky Juno with us whenever possible.
About Pursued by the Rich Rancher:
Single mom Nina Lowery has never understood the sex appeal of cowboys. Until she brings her son to a weeklong horse camp and meets the wealthy rancher in charge. Seduction isn't part of Alex McNair's plan to earn his piece of his family's estate. Yet plans have a way of changing. Nina and her little boy hold the key to Alex's future. Breaking the promise he made to his dying grandmother is not an option but neither is breaking Nina's heart.

Beth Cornelison, author of Colton Cowboy Protector
My perfect summertime date would be at the beach, preferably on the Florida Gulf Coast, our family's favorite! The date would start with a round of miniature golf where my husband and I love to compete, all in good fun. Afterward, we'd enjoy dinner at a restaurant on the waterfront where we could watch the waves. The date would end with a romantic stroll on the beach as the moon and stars come out. Food, fun and a Florida beach … my perfect summer date!
