Shakir Rashaan recaps 'Power': Tasha takes control
Hello, I'm Shakir Rashaan, and I'm a male erotic romance and mystery author for Strebor Books/Simon & Schuster and a regular contributor to the Happy Ever After blog! You can normally find me on my regular blog, Manly Musings, but I'm devoting some extra time to recapping episodes of Starz's hit show, Power.
I think I'm starting to sound like a broken record with each concluding week, but I can't help it anymore. This latest episode was absolutely CRAZY!
Let's get started, shall we?
Let me take a deep breath really quickly, and then we can dip into this episode …
We're about to go full speed into the second half of the season, and when I say things are really getting interesting, I mean that and then some!
We'll start with the mess between Holly and Angela, since that was the explosive confession that we were left with last episode.
Holly is trying to figure out what the connection is with Angela and Ghost, trying to gloat as she thought she had Angela at a disadvantage, but that's where Angela had to explain the realities of the situation for her. Being an attorney, she goes by the time-honored traditional cliché: It doesn't matter what you know, it only matters what you can prove in a court of law. Holly panics, realizing that her word isn't good enough and offers up that there was a gun that she saw Ghost give to Tommy, and would that be the solution to her problem of getting her and Tommy off the hook if she could find it?
Holly goes through every possible place she can think of, eventually finding a gun inside Tommy's car, but upon inspection by Angela, it turns out to be the wrong gun. The pressure is on for Holly to figure out how to get out of this mess before Ghost decides to make good on his promise to make her disappear if she didn't find a way to break things off with Tommy and take his offer of money and relocation via Greyhound.
Angela is still trying to figure out what's real and what isn't real, and her relationship with Ghost is starting to come apart at the seams. She wants to love him, but she's not sure if she can trust him anymore. Ghost, on the other hand, has another issue to deal with in the form of Tasha (I'll get to that later, but trust me, you're going to want to stick around for that one).
Ghost finally gets to meet Vladimir, Tommy's Serbian connection, and they solidify terms (albeit temporary) of their partnership. Before Ghost leaves, Vlad decides to prove that they are every bit as ruthless as the rest of Ghost's and Tommy's network. It gets bloody … and messy … and that's all I have to say on that for now.
Ghost gets the network together for a large meet-up, where he lets everyone know that they need to get to business and get money together now that Lobos has dropped more product on them than he has in the past. He senses the tension in the room and calls everyone to the carpet to either get the beef out and get it handled or step from the network entirely if they can't get it handled. Everyone's on board, so Ghost tells them to take as much territory as they can, just not from each other so they can all get paid.
Here's where things get a little dicey for Ghost, though.
After having a few drinks at Truth, he takes a call from Tommy, where there might be an issue with Vlad and trying to stay ahead of him so he doesn't find out what's going on or get wind of what really happened with his distribution channels. Ghost hangs up, only to rear-end a random driver!
Guess who comes down to the police precinct to bail him out and drive him home? Tasha …
Meanwhile, Angela is with Greg at work, when Sandoval comes in and says that Ghost has been arrested on a possible DUI and that Greg should go down and interview him now that he's in a bit of a problematic situation. Only, Angela persuades Sandoval to go instead, which has Greg suspicious (if you watched the previous episode, then you know why he's suspicious). Once she heads down to the precinct, she comes face-to-face with Ghost as he's speaking with Tasha. Tasha sees Angela and, more important, she sees for herself the connection between Angela and Ghost.
What follows is a "come to Jesus" meeting between Ghost and Tasha that will have #TeamTasha fans talking about what went down in that conversation for the rest of the week!
OK, I can breathe a little bit now! Of course (you know the routine by now), I'm not telling everything that happened in this episode, but here's some of the more interesting questions to take into the next episode:
• Does Angela still trust Ghost? Will she be able to still trust him? Is she still in love with him?
• Does the information that Kantos gave to Ghost be the piece to the puzzle to get Truth back?
• And finally, where did Holly go?
This season keeps getting better by the week! Don't blink, or you could miss it! Tune in to Starz at 9 p.m. ET next Saturday to see what happens next!
