'X-Factor' relaunches with a corporate mutant supergroup
The new dress code of the mutant team X-Factor: business professional.
With artist Carmine Di Giandomenico, writer Peter David relaunches the Marvel Comics series he's become known for in recent years with All-New X-Factor, starring a group baring the yellow threads and feline logo of its corporate parent, Serval Industries.
The first issue of the book, out today, has mistress of magnetism Polaris — who up until recently was pretty unbalanced mentally — on the recruiting trail for her new corporate bosses, who have obtained the "X-Factor" name from Jamie Madrox.
The superpowered thief Gambit and Polaris' speedy half-brother Quicksilver are the first ones who sign up, and their debut mission gets them in the thick of things when they go in to investigate a biologist who may be experimenting on mutants.
Warlock, Cypher and Danger will be joining the crew in upcoming issues, but whether or not Serval — a combo of Stark Industries and Google — is really all about helping people or there's something sinister going on. (The fact that Serval CEO Harrison Snow has a megalomaniacal "BWWWAAAHAHAHAA" laugh does not bode well for long-term benevolence.)
