Josh Radnor, Laura Benanti to team on Broadway
How I Met Your Mother alum Josh Radnor is poised to star in his first Broadway musical, opposite one of musical theater's brightest talents.
That would be Laura Benanti, who will appear next year with Radnor in a Roundabout Theatre Company revival of the Sheldon Harnick/Jerry Bock musical She Loves Me in the spring of 2016, which in its original 1963 Broadway staging featured another beloved soprano, Barbara Cook.
Radnor, currently on the Main Stem in the play Disgraced, got to warm up a bit in a one-night only gala reading of She Loves Me staged by Roundabout in 2011, with Kelli O'Hara. Benanti, a Tony Award winner for a 2008 revival of Gypsy, is currently playing a singer on the ABC series Nashville.
Veteran director Scott Ellis will helm the new She Loves Me, with a full cast and creative team and dates to be announced shortly.
