Celeb superlatives: Sia's bangs, Missy Elliott
Paste BN's Cindy Clark digs through the latest celebrity news for highlights ... and lowlights. Think high school yearbook superlatives — if Missy Elliott and Josh Gad were classmates.
Best surprise performance: Missy Elliott. When she showed up in the middle of the Super Bowl halftime show to get her freak on, people went crazy for her throwback rap songs and choreographed dance moves. And even though Katy Perry was the main headliner accompanied by Lenny Kravitz, the bulk of the next-day buzz went to Missy.
Best double date: John Legend & Chrissy Teigen and Kanye West & Kim Kardashian. When these four showed up at a Waffle House in the middle of the night, they proved it once and for all: Stars really are just like us!
Best comic plea to parents: Josh Gad. Apparently, some people have taken the Frozen frenzy one step two far. Gad says that he's heard parents are naming their kids after reindeer Sven. "People have lost their minds. I think the world has Frozen fever. It's a pandemic that is sweeping the globe," says Gad. "But it needs to be diagnosed by doctors and a treatment needs to be found. If it gets to the point where you are naming your child after a reindeer, you really need to get yourself checked out."
Bangs most in need of a trim: Sia, is that you? The Chandelier singer obscures her face whenever she performs because she doesn't want to become too famous, but things went a little too far for her recent appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. Plus, we already know what she looks like!
Worst song choice for a Super Bowl ad: Harry Chapin's Cat's in the Cradle. We're not sure what Nissan was thinking choosing this one for their car commercial — which depicted a race car driving collision — considering Chapin was tragically killed at the age of 38 in 1981 in a car accident.
