SXSW: Rachael Ray serves up more music and munchies

AUSTIN — Rachael Ray cooks up another tasty Feedback event Saturday for South by Southwest.

The famous TV chef is into her eighth year of hosting an outdoor Feedback event in Austin.

Scheduled for Saturday at Stubb's BBQ, a baker's dozen bands and artists will perform — inicluding Delta Spirit, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, Scott Weiland & Wildabouts, and Raekwon — on two outdoor stages and one indoor.

The event runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and is free to those 21 and older. First come, first served. No need for a festival pass, either. You should RSVP online, however, if you want to attend.

"Everybody's welcome and there will be something musically for everyone and, of course, there will be good food," Ray said.

She recalled that Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros played her event six years ago. "I do like that we have been here so long that there's something cyclical about it. Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeroes are a huge act and now they are coming back," Ray said. "It's the first year I've felt that cyclical vibe."

The spread will include several Austin-inspired recipe, including Blue Moon Beer-Brined Smoked BBQ Chicken Hard Shell Tacos with the Works, and "rilled Corn Off the Cobb with Chipotle Cream.

"I try to do the same thing with food that we do with music — make sure that everybody feels welcome and fed whether they are vegetarians or like my husband," she said. "Pork is a four-letter word as important as love to my husband."

You can make your own SXSW spread at home with Ray's recipes, found here.

Among the numerous sponsors supplying the event is Blue Moon Brewing Co., which will offer its new White IPA, not available in stores until April 1.

Also running through Saturday is the invite-only Feedback House, at 1102 East Cesar Chavez St. with more than 20 bands and food in a open-air house party environment.

Feeling charitable after attending Feedback? Donate to the Rachael Ray Show's hunger-fighting charity, 9 Million Meals. For her TV show, now in its ninth year, "we wanted to feed nine million Americans," she said. "We've raised enough dollars and or food to feed eight million people already and still have months to go, so we are really proud about that."
