Josh Duggar has kept mostly quiet since it was revealed in May that as a teenager he admitted to molesting underage girls, including some of his sisters. But on Sunday, he took to Twitter to share news of the birth of his daughter.

"Announcing the arrival of Meredith Grace Duggar," he tweeted with photos of his newborn. Baby and wife Anna are "doing well," he wrote.

The news, which only thrust Duggar back into the spotlight, was met with harsh reaction on Twitter:

But not everyone feels that way. Some folks are standing up for the former reality-TV star:

Duggar is the eldest of Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar's 19 children, who were featured on TLC's 19 Kids and Counting before the network pulled the show after the molestation scandal erupted. "After thoughtful consideration, TLC and the Duggar family have decided to not move forward with 19 Kids and Counting. The show will no longer appear on the air, the network said in a statement on its website. "The recent attention around the Duggars has sparked a critical and important conversation about child protection."
