Peeling off chunks of a pineapple is a thing now and everyone is freaking out

Breaking news: Pineapples can be peeled.

The days of buying packaged pineapple slices to avoid the daunting task of cutting them (does anyone even really know how to cut a pineapple?) could be over thanks to a handy pineapple connoisseur.

Two separate videos from TikTok show someone eating a pineapple in a very unconventional way. It's no surprise the videos went viral when they were shared to Twitter. At the time of this writing, the videos had been  viewed over 32 million times collectively.

The videos show an individual grabbing at a pineapple thorn and effortlessly tearing it off the core to eat it. No knife, blowtorch or pineapple corer in sight.

"Wait, what? The whole time? The whole time!? THE WHOLE TIME!" Twitter user @DenzBenzi captioned the video.

Mind. Blown.

As were the minds of most people who stumbled upon the video.

"So we've been EATING IT WRONG?" asked a Twitter user.

When people got over the initial shock of this revelation, they were eager to try the pineapple hack for themselves.

According to Food52, the trick is most effective on a "snack pineapple," which is a smaller and sweeter version of a regular pineapple. Even though it appears a few people weren't successful peeling chunks of their own pineapples, others were able to utilize their new skill. The trick is that the pineapple has to be ripe.
