Meet Taurus, the Zodiac's loyal bull: The sign's personality traits, dates

Taurus is the second sign of the Zodiac, ruling the latter half of April and the beginning of May.

Thanks to their association with the element earth, Tauruses are grounded individuals, steeped in resilience and loyalty. But just like their symbol, the bull, Tauruses can be quite stubborn.

They are dedicated and generous, enjoying the finer things in life. However, the sign is often misunderstood due to its steadfast and occasionally jealous nature.

Astrologer Cleo Neptune dives into the sign's key traits and approach to relationships, career and more.

Taurus dates

Taurus season runs from April 20 to May 20.

Taurus personality, traits

Tauruses have a reputation of stubbornness, and unfortunately, this stereotype is true, says Neptune. Those born under the star sign are fixed in their ways, he explains, calling Tauruses "creatures of habit."

Taurus is ruled by Venus, the planet of pleasure. This means that the sign loves to indulge, Neptune explains. They are generous and try to extend their luxuries to others.

"Venus rules over gifts," Neptune says. "(Tauruses) want everyone to enjoy the pleasure that they are experiencing."

Tauruses crave comfort, he adds. They tend to settle down and stay in one place.

Taurus career horoscope

Neptune describes Tauruses as efficient, preferring to get tasks done quickly.

Similar to other aspects of their lives, Tauruses run the risk of getting stuck in their careers. "When it's time for change, they're extremely resistant to that," Neptune explains.

As coworkers, Tauruses make great mentors and champions in the workplace. This comes in part due to Taurus' consistency and comforting perspective.

They often keep work relationships professional and don't cross the line into friendship.

Taurus compatibility

In relationships, a Taurus needs someone who is a ride-or-die, says Neptune.

"They're kind of scorpionic in their close relationships," he explains. "They need someone who they know will have their back."

Tauruses crave safety and want someone who will show up in a tangible way; someone who they can entrust with their emotions and won't embarrass them.

Tauruses often act the provider in romantic situations, Neptune adds. This especially pertains to gift giving. Their gift-giving isn't about the price tag though, it’s about the thought and attention to the little details.

Taurus is compatible with the other earth signs: Virgo and Capricorn. But they also pair well with water signs: CancerScorpio and Pisces.

Strengths

Tauruses are observant and generous. They often show their love with gifts tailored to a partner or friend's interests, says Neptune.

As friends, Tauruses are dedicated and loyal. They don't trust easily and put tremendous effort into cultivating close connections.

Weaknesses

Tauruses tend to foster comfortable environments, but this can cause them to get stuck. They may refuse to break from traditional approaches, remaining stagnant for too long.

Tauruses can also be standoffish and appear unapproachable due to their fixed nature.

Given their love for the finer things in life, Tauruses can sometimes be perceived as elitists, Neptune adds.
