We TV plans 'Law & Order' Adam Schiff-a-thon for Tuesday

Judging by the 32,000 shares for Paste BN's obituary on Law & Order star Steven Hill earlier this week, our readers adored the show's original district attorney, the crotchety-yet-wise Adam Schiff.

So did we, which is why we're happy to hear that We TV is planning a five-hour Schiff-a-thon, featuring Hill's best work. It starts Tuesday at 8 ET/PT.

Here are the five episodes featured, which all aired during Seasons 7 and 8 (1997-1998):

"Terminal" (8 ET/PT)
This Season 7 finale from 1997 found Schiff learning of his wife's stroke while battling with the governor and state's attorney general over whether to seek the death penalty in a murder case.

"Burned" (9 ET/PT)
In this Season 8 episode, a wealthy friend of Schiff interferes in a case involving a deadly fire caused by his grandson.

"Under the Influence" (10 ET/PT)
An ambitious judge with intentions of challenging Schiff for district attorney angles for a draconian charge in a vehicular manslaughter case, playing on the emotions of prosecutor Jack McCoy (Sam Waterston) after he lost a former assistant and lover to a drunk driver.

"Bad Girl" (11 ET/PT)
Detective Lennie Briscoe's (the late Jerry Orbach) daughter is arrested for drug possession while the team investigates the stabbing death of a cop that could affect Schiff's re-election chances.

"Monster" (12 a.m. ET/PT)
The Season 8 ender finds the team in disarray as Assistant District Attorney Jamie Ross (Carey Lowell) resigns, Lt. Van Buren (S. Epatha Merkerson)  fights to keep her job and Briscoe considers an opportunity to avenge his daughter's murder. Meanwhile, Schiff grapples with the reality that he might lose the election.
