Rick Springfield to write 'spiritual' novel
Rick Springfield is writing a novel and no, it's not about Jessie's girl.
The Grammy-winning Australian rocker, 63, will publish his debut novel, Magnificent Vibration, next May with publisher Touchstone.
The book portrays a man "who has hit a dead end in his life, but who serendipitously receives a 1-800 phone connection to God via an inscription in a mysterious self-help book that may just give him a shot at saving the planet."
What can readers expect? It's described by his publisher as "hilarious, poignant, spiritual, over-the-top, and deeply meaningful."
Springfield, who hit the top of the charts in 1981 with the single Jessie's Girl and continued his career with 17 songs in the top 40 -- and 25 million records sold -- said in a statement that he considered a career as a writer.
"I thought that fiction might be in my future but then my career took a different path once the Beatles showed me what a blast being in a band could be," he said. Magnificent Vibration is Springfield's foray back into the craft.
It's Springfield's second book -- he wrote a tell-all autobiography in 2010 called Late, Late at Night that made it to No. 64 on Paste BN's Best-Selling Books list.
In addition to writing, Springfield recently reprised his role as Dr. Noah Drake on General Hospital and appeared in the Dave Grohl-directed documentary, Sound City.
