Book Buzz: Lee Child's 'Personal' lands at No. 1

The fall books season is starting off with a bang as two books released on Sept. 2 land in the Top 5 on Paste BN's Best-Selling Books list – including Lee Child at No. 1.

Personal, the new Jack Reacher thriller, is the third Child book to debut at No. 1. Last year's Never Go Back and 2011's The Affair accomplished the same feat. In the new book, Reacher is pulled back into government service to find an American sniper who's taken a shot at the leader of France.

Landing at No. 5 is Somewhere Safe with Somebody Good by Jan Karon, also released on Sept. 2. The book is the first official "Mitford" novel since 2005's Light From Heaven. Karon had said Heaven would be the last in the series about gentle folk in a small North Carolina town.

In a 4-star (out of 4) review of Somewhere for Paste BN, Patty Rhule said: "Hits the sweet spot at the intersection of your heart and your funny bone."

One Sept. 2 release that didn't crack the Top 50: What I Know for Sure by Oprah Winfrey (No. 70), a collection of columns from O: The Oprah Magazine.
