Book Buzz: 'Killing Patton' lands at No. 1
The Killing non-fiction franchise by Bill O'Reilly and Martin Dugard scores a first: a No. 1 debut as Killing Patton lands in the top spot on Paste BN's Best-Selling Books list.
Last year's Killing Jesus entered the list at No. 2 on Oct. 3 and then rose to No. 1 the following week. In 2012, Killing Kennedy made it to No. 2, and Killing Lincoln, the first in the series, peaked at No. 3 in 2011.
In Killing Patton, the authors explore the death in 1945 of Gen. George S. Patton after a mysterious car crash and point a finger at Joseph Stalin. They believe Patton was poisoned in a German hospital by the Russian secret service.
O'Reilly tells Paste BN three more books are planned in the series, which uses a you-are-there thriller style to explore the deaths or assassinations of major figures. The authors are writing next fall's book "even as we speak," says O'Reilly. The subject and title are a closely guarded secret.
