Scarlett by Alexandra Ripley (1991):

• Continues the tempestuous love story of Scarlett and Rhett, with a major diversion to Ireland.

• Made into a 1994 miniseries starring Timothy Dalton and Joanne Whalley.

• More than 6.6 million copies in print.

Rhett Butler's People by Donald McCaig (2007)

• Young Rhett's conflict with his cruel father; his possible love child with Belle Watling; and his side of the epic love affair with Scarlett.

• Reached No. 9 on Paste BN's Best-Selling Books list.

• Has sold nearly 750,000 copies.

• A trade paperback edition has just been released.

Ruth's Journey by Donald McCaig (on sale Oct. 14)

• The story of Mammy, her loves and losses, and how she became a caregiver for the children of the Robillard and O'Hara clans.

• First printing: 100,000 copies. There also is a digital edition.
