Anderson Cooper, mom Gloria Vanderbilt have a best seller

Here’s a look at what’s new on Paste BN’s Best-Selling Books list…

Over the ‘Rainbow’: CNN’s Anderson Cooper and his mother, Gloria Vanderbilt, are now co-authors of a best-selling memoir.

The Rainbow Comes and Goes: A Mother and Son on Life, Loss and Love (Harper) lands on Paste BN’s Best-Selling Books list at No. 4. (The full list will publish on Thursday.)

The book is an exchange of correspondence between the famous anchorman, 48, and his famous mom, 92, an heiress who became a fashion designer and artist. It’s also a companion volume to the HBO documentary, Nothing Left Unsaid: Gloria Vanderbilt and Anderson Cooper.

This is the first appearance on Paste BN’s list for Vanderbilt, but not Cooper. His memoir Dispatches From the Edge landed at No. 5 in 2006.

Cooper and Vanderbilt have done publicity for their book, including TV appearances such as CBS Sunday Morning and Live with Kelly & Michael.

They also did a sit-down together with Paste BN. His mother, Cooper told Paste BN, has had a “much more interesting life.” She “was dating Errol Flynn at 17, and (later) Marlon Brando and Howard Hughes and Frank Sinatra. Compared to my mom, I've led a pretty tame existence."
