What it’s about: In the latest Gideon Crew book, a giant meterorite must be destroyed before it destroys the earth; sequel to The Ice Limit.
The buzz: The last Crew book, The Lost Island, reached No. 29 on Paste BN’s Best-Selling Books list.
3. The Fireman by Joe Hill (William Morrow, fiction, on sale May 17)
What it’s about: A mysterious “fireman” protects those infected with a terrifying plague that causes its victims to burst into flame; by the son of horror master Stephen King.
The buzz: Dubbed one of the 10 best books of May by Amazon.com.
4. By Honor Bound by Tom Norris and Mike Thornton (St. Martin’s Press, non-fiction, on sale May 17)
What it’s about: True story of two Navy SEALs who each received the Medal of Honor during the Vietnam War, and how one rescued the other, who had been severely wounded during battle.
The buzz: Non-fiction books about Navy SEALs, such as American Sniper and No Easy Day, have been big hits.
5. The After Party by Anton DiSclafani (Riverhead, fiction, on sale May 17)
What it’s about: Story of female friendship among 1950s Texas socialites; by the author of The Yonahlossee Riding Camp for Girls.
The buzz: “A consistently absorbing narrative,” says Kirkus Reviews.
