1. Every Little Step by Bobby Brown (Dey St., non-fiction, on sale June 13)
What it’s about: The singer (New Edition) writes a memoir and talks about his marriage to Whitney Houston, as well as the death of their daughter, Bobbi Kristina.
The buzz: Brown, who signed his book contract not long before his daughter died, says writing Every Little Step turned out to be “therapeutic.”
2. Here’s to Us by Elin Hilderbrand (Little, Brown, fiction, on sale June 14)
What it’s about: After the untimely death of celebrity chef Deacon Thorpe, the women in his life (romantic rivals) gather in Nantucket to say goodbye.
The buzz: It must be summer: Hilderbrand is back with a new beach read.
3. Invisible Influence: The Hidden Forces That Shape Behavior by Jonah Berger (Simon & Schuster, non-fiction, on sale June 14)
What it’s about: Looks at what and who influences us and how we can use that knowledge to live “happier, healthier lives”; by the author of Contagious: Why Things Catch On.
The buzz: “An engaging guide to the concept of social influence,” says Publishers
Weekly.
4. I’m Just a Person by Tig Notaro (Ecco, non-fiction, on sale June 14)
What it’s about: The comedian writes about the not-so-funny year of 2012, when she was diagnosed with breast cancer, went through a breakup, was hospitalized with C. diff, and her mother died.
The buzz: Notaro’s career is on a roll, with an HBO stand-up special, as well as Showtime and Netflix documentaries.
5. Foreign Agent by Brad Thor (Emily Bestler Books/Atria, fiction, on sale June 14)
What it’s about: The CIA calls on former Navy SEAL Scot Harvath as terrorism spins out of control in Europe in Thor’s latest thriller.
The buzz: Thor’s last three books have been Top 5 Paste BN best sellers, including Hidden Order which hit No. 1.
