1. This Life I Live by Rory Feek (Thomas Nelson, non-fiction, on sale Feb. 14)
What it’s about: In this memoir, the country singer writes of his own life and his love for his wife and musical partner, Joey, who died of cancer last March.
The buzz: The Feeks’ story, which they shared via Rory’s blog, touched many, and this remembrance is being published on Valentine’s Day.
2. Lincoln in the Bardo by George Saunders (Random House, fiction, on sale Feb. 14)
What it’s about: This debut novel by the author of Tenth of December: Stories imagines Abraham Lincoln’s grief over the death of his young son, Willie, in 1862.
The buzz: It’s an Amazon selection for Best Books of the Month for February and an Indie Next pick of independent booksellers.
3. On Turpentine Lane by Elinor Lipman (Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, fiction, on sale Feb. 14)
What it’s about: Romantic comedy about Faith Frankel, 32, who moves back to her hometown and into a house where some of the previous residents met unexpected ends.
The buzz: “Warm, clever … a lot of fun,” says Kirkus Reviews.
4. Gunmetal Gray by Mark Greaney (Berkley, fiction, on sale Feb. 14)
What it’s about: In the latest “Gray Man” thriller, the covert CIA assassin is targeted by Chinese agents in Hong Kong.
The buzz: In addition to his own books, Greaney pens the posthumous, best-selling “Tom Clancy” Jack Ryan franchise.
5. The Chilbury Ladies’ Choir by Jennifer Ryan (Crown, fiction, on sale Feb. 14)
What it’s about: In an English village during World War II, the local ladies’ choir provides cheer to women whose men have gone to war.
The buzz: It’s an Indie Next pick of independent booksellers. A “gorgeous novel,” says Grace Wright of Parnassus Books in Nashville.
