Adam Richman embroiled in big 'Food' fight
Adam Richman, the Travel Channel star of shows including Man v. Food, Best Thing I Ever Ate and Adam Richman’s Best Sandwich in America, is in hot water.
He had a social media meltdown, and now the Travel Channel has pulled his new show, Man Finds Food, which was set to start tonight.
What he did:
Richman, who has recently lost 70 pounds, tweeted earlier this month about having to take in a new suit and used #thinspiration.
Why it got people riled up:
"Thinspiration" is a word used in pro-anorexia and pro-bulimia circles, generally consisting of pictures of emaciated bodies, notes The Washington Post. A commenter pointed this out to Richman
What he did next:
Richman responded with "DILLIGAF?" (Do I look like I give a ....)
Which prompted:
His insensitive response stirred a flurry of criticism. His tweets have all since been deleted. But screen grabs of it all are available, including on Jezebel.
His apology:
As things heated up, Richman backed down, issuing an apology on Twitter (since deleted) and to ABC News: "I've long struggled with my body image and have worked very hard to achieve a healthy weight. I'm incredibly sorry to everyone I've hurt."
And in case you missed it:
He also recently posed naked for Cosmo U.K. wearing nothing but a soccer ball.
