Perhaps it's fitting that Joan Rivers' family and friends will say their private goodbyes during Fashion Week.
The comedian's private memorial service is set for 11 a.m. ET Sunday at Temple Emanu-El on Manhattan's Upper East Side, across town from Lincoln Center, the site of several designers' spring showcases.
Since Rivers' death on Thursday, celebrities have been taking to social media -- and the red carpet at Friday's Stand Up to Cancer telethon -- to pay their respects.
On Saturday, The New York Post filmed Rivers' daughter and frequent TV collaborator, Melissa, following her mother's coffin out of a funeral parlor, flanked by her son Cooper. Clad in a black sheath and clutching a Hermès bag, she kissed the coffin before the hearse drove away. TMZ alleges it was bound for a New Jersey crematorium; however, that doesn't jibe with how Rivers described how she wanted to go out (buried in a Valentino gown with a Harry Winston toe tag).
Meanwhile, the New York State Health Department has begun its investigation of Yorkville Endoscopy, the clinic where Rivers underwent the diagnostic procedure that preceded her cardiac and respiratory arrest on Aug. 28. The 81-year-old comedy icon passed away exactly a week later, on Sept. 4.
