Get Brooklyn indie films on demand via a dedicated Vimeo channel

Brooklyn, the home of  hipsters and carefully crafted artisanal food, is now home to a small batch of carefully curated indie films that you can download and watch at your leisure.

Brooklyn on Demand premiered Monday on Vimeo.  It’s the only pay-per-view hub on the video-sharing site entirely dedicated to indie films made in the borough. The Art of Brooklyn Film Festival created the channel and selects the films.

Brooklyn on Demand is one of a growing number of channels dedicated to indie films on Vimeo, which in March announced a $10 million investment in marketing and monetary support for moviemakers who agree to put their films on the site exclusively.

“We were thinking of ways to increase opportunities for the filmmakers and try to earn revenue,” says Anthony DeVito, an actor and comedian who is the communications director for the festival and is involved with Brooklyn on Demand. “We want to create a hub online for the Brooklyn indie film scene that reaches a worldwide audience. Just the word ‘Brooklyn’ is an international word for hip.”

The videos can be rented for 48 hours. Costs range from $1.99 to $3.99.
