Nicki Minaj finally explains that VMA wardrobe malfunction

We knew that her zipper broke.

But now Nicki Minaj is explaining a little bit more about what happened at the Video Music Awards when she came out clutching her clothes, holding her black dress together.

She tells Ellen DeGeneres on her Wednesday show that it was a quick change, done in the dark so that her outfit could better match those of her partners on stage (Ariana Grande and Jessie J), and the zipper didn't work.

"Right there, I thought I'd died."

The problem was: "I didn't have any underwear on. No underwear, no bra!"

Ellen presented her with a giant safety pin just in case it happens again.
