Melissa Rivers tweets for first time since mom Joan Rivers' death
Melissa Rivers has returned to Twitter, posting for the first time since her mother, comedian/fashionista Joan Rivers, died earlier this month.
Linking to a longer statement, Melissa thanks everyone for the support.
As my son Cooper and I mourn the loss of my mother, we want to thank everyone for the beautiful cards and flowers conveying heartfelt messages and condolences, which continue to arrive from around the world and through social media. My mother would have been overwhelmed by the scope and depth of the love that people have expressed for her. It is certainly helping to lift our spirits during this time.
We are forever grateful for your kindness and support in continuing to honor my mother’s legacy, and for remembering the joy and laughter that she brought to so many.

It was announced Wednesday that Melissa would appear on a special Fashion Police episode on E! this Friday night to celebrate her mother's life. The show has been on hiatus since Joan's death on Sept. 4, after complications from surgery on her vocal cords at an endoscopy clinic in New York City.
Melissa had released a statement upon Joan's passing, saying, "My mother's greatest joy in life was to make people laugh. Although that is difficult to do right now, I know her final wish would be that we return to laughing soon."
