Baz Luhrmann on his move from Chanel to Netflix

We were one of the lucky few who got to sit down with legendary filmmaker Baz Luhrmann (Moulin Rouge!, The Great Gatsby) to talk about fragrances, friendships and Netflix.

On his dear friend and collaborator, Nicole Kidman, who starred in their first joint Chanel No. 5 campaign as well as the film Moulin Rouge!

"She's really tall but in a big room, she goes out of her way to make the least comfortable person feel comfortable. But you know, the loss of her dad recently -- no one saw that coming. He was a great guy. Very smart. Big influence in the whole family's life. Reminds us that it can happen at any moment."

On shooting his second commercial ever, also for Chanel No. 5, with Gisele Bundchen.

"I've known her since she was really young. She was a cool girl. She was going out with Leonardo (DiCaprio). She's really evolved and evolved. I've never met her when that positive inner spirit hasn't been present. She's totally opinionated. That sexy Brazilian she's playing is a character. She's forward-moving, positive and romantic. She's very much a mother. It's fundamental to her."

On his latest endeavor with Adam Sandler's new professional home, Netflix, which also brings us the machinations of Kevin Spacey's Frank Underwood on House of Cards.

"I like the culture there because it's the kind of culture where they say, 'I like it, make it all.' I'm right in the middle of the research and development of a NetFlix series I'm doing. It's unlike any other culture. They're like Aladdin's Cave. It's a new dynamic."

The Chanel commercial starring Kidman remains epic.
