Chili Peppers' Super Bowl advice to Katy Perry: Plug in

Remember last year when the Red Hot Chili Peppers were caught with their guitars unplugged?

Flea explained in a blog post that the NFL and headliner Bruno Mars said they would be playing live at the Super Bowl halftime show, but that the "bass, drums and guitar would be pre-recorded." And there was no arguing against it.

But even with those restrictions, TMZ caught up with RHCP drummer Chad Smith who, when asked what advice he had for this year's halftime performer, Katy Perry, he replied: "Plug in. ... Plug in and play, Katy."

From the sound of it, we shouldn't be surprised if Katy isn't live.
