Matthew McConaughey's very first award was... Little Mr. Texas!

Matthew McConaughey and his mom recently reminisced over the Academy Award winner's first award as a child -- Little Mr. Texas!

But he actually didn't win: "Oh, runner up. If you ask my mother she likes to say I won, but I didn't win," he tellsExtra.

Even so, McConaughey's mom, Mary Kathlene McCabe, still thinks her son was a winner: "Little Mr. Texas. Isn't that cute?...Yes. He won an award - Little Mister Texas."

McConaughey says he was fooled for two decades: "See I thought I won for 20 years and then one day I blew up that picture and I was like… Mom, it says runner up. She's like… aahh."

Ha! Typical mom behavior.
