Walking Baymax leads 'Big Hero 6' parade of highly unusual red carpet stars

You know you're in for a special, and very different, night on the red carpet when the big star is a white vinyl walking robot with a pot belly.

Baymax doesn't just appear in Big Hero 6. Disney Studios unveiled their real-life walking Baymax at Hollywood's El Capitan Theatre on Tuesday night. This creature will be hugging your children at a Disney theme park near you in the future.

He topped the list of most unusual red carpet characters rocking the premiere. The guy even walks funny.

"We love Baymax," said John Lasseter, chief creative officer at Disney Animation Studios. "And he walks like a toddler with a full diaper."

Lasseter himself wore his traditional Hawaiian shirt, "a one-of-a-kind Baymax shirt." But he wore it with "a Japanese robe. This is all the rage in San Fransokyo," he said.

T.J. Miller voices the geek-wannabe Fred in Big Hero 6. So naturally he felt the need to walk the entire carpet in Mickey Mouse hands, wildly waving his hands during his interviews.

"I am trying to keep it Disney," he said.

As for the wooden bow tie? "You don't have to tie it, but on the downside, it is flammable."

The comedian even seemed to have an odd influence on his seemingly adorable 8-year-old nieces.
