Nicole Richie is a rapper now, you guys

We all know Nicole Richie as a mom, fashion designer and reality star, but her latest gig?

A rapper who goes by Nikki Fre$h. With a dollar sign. Seriously.

Of course, it's not a full-time thing -- it was all part of the opening of VH1's You Oughta Know Live in Concert special, which she hosted Thursday night in New York. Check out her sick MC skills as she rides in on a tricycle and raps about breakout artists such as Echosmith, Aloe Blacc, Vance Joy and American Authors performing on the show (she's actually not half bad?):

In other news, Sam Smith took home the night's big honor.

For 2014 You Oughta Know artist of the year. Not surprising, given that the award is primarily based on how many Spotify plays one accumulates (and he has more than 400 million ... dude's killin' it). But, of course, Sam's performances melted our hearts, too: He sang Stay With Me and latest single I'm Not the Only One, and was given a glowing introduction by none other than Chaka Khan. The whole thing gave us a lot of feels, as he does.

Tove Lo totally owned it, vocal rest and all.

We were a bit concerned for the Swedish pop singer when she

that she was on

, doctor's orders. But the trooper she is, Tove delivered an AMAZING performance of hit song Habits (Stay High):

(Now go get some rest!)

Chvrches and Bleachers teamed up for an epic Fleetwood Mac cover.

Did we die and go to heaven? After playing The Mother We Share and I Wanna Get Better with their respective bands, Chvrches' Lauren Mayberry and Bleachers' Jack Antonoff took the stage together to sing Go Your Own Way at the end of the night. It was truly magical and we REALLY want these guys to make some music together now.
