The real reason why Jessica Simpson hit the 'Mockingjay' premiere

Jessica Simpson looked Katniss-daunting in her gown at The Hunger Games: Mockingjay -- Part 1 premiere on Monday night in Los Angeles.

But why was she there? Auditioning for a tribute role in the franchise's final chapter?

Nope. It was a big-time family affair. Like Thanksgiving big.

Simpson supported sister Ashlee and Ashlee's husband Evan Ross, who has a role in the movie opening Nov. 21.

Ross also brought along the biggest blue-chip family member of them all -- mother Diana Ross. The Supreme One flew in from her concert tour for her son's premiere event and strolled the red carpet.

Things even got a little rowdy in the Nokia Theatre when Evan's first screen moment took place. The whole extended family erupted, he tells Paste BN.
"When my face showed up onscreen the first time, everyone jumped up. The whole group. It was unbelievable."
Diana Ross had to get back to work after the film. But Evan Ross and the two sisters (along with Jessica's hubby Eric Johnson) partied in their own booth at the lavishly decked afterparty.
