Should late-night comedians be making Cosby jokes?

The sexual assault allegations against Bill Cosby may be the biggest news story this week, but there hasn't been too much mention of it on late-night TV. It's understandable why, given the sensitive subject matter, but it's still something that everyone is talking about. So how should late-night comedians handle it?

Well, Seth Meyers, for one, had a bit on Late Night with Seth Myers on Thursday that definitely falls into the category of "having your cake and eating it too."

That bit seems to have hit all the points the planted audience member was talking about: It was funny, it was sensitive, not too edgy, not too cartoony and not too soft. It went over a little better than this bit on Conan that featured a Cosby joke, but didn't seem to strike the same balance that Meyers did.

Over on The Daily Show, Jon Stewart slid a Cosby joke into a segment about eminent domain (remember from your high-school social studies class) to a loud "Oooh" from his audience:

"TransCanada can't just lay pipe anywhere it wants to without permission, it's not Bill Cosby," he said. "Oooh," indeed.
