Watch 12 years of filming 'Boyhood' in 11 minutes
Richard Linklater's (newly SAG-nominated) Boyhood was a big feat in itself -- condensing 12 years of a boy's (Ellar Coltrane) life into a 3 hour movie. The making-of featurette, which IFC Films released on Hulu, does that in 11 minutes, and it's just as moving.

The featurette shows cast interviews from the beginning years of the film to the end, with director Richard Linklater explaining the conception of the film and how he pulled it off, finally coming to the conclusion that the film was exploring: "Where does growing up end and aging start?"
It's still a shock seeing how young and adorable Ellar Coltrane and Lorelai Linklater (who plays his sister) are at the beginning of the movie -- Ellar didn't even know how to read yet when he was cast in the film!
But it's fun to see the cast think on where they'd be in 12 years, then watch it actually unfold onscreen.
Boyhood is now available on Digital HD.
