Where's Giuliana Rancic? Red-carpet watchers want her back.

Love her or not, Guiliana Rancic is a staple of the red carpet, always ready with benign interview questions and obligatory fashion comments.

But she's absent  from the E! pre-show of the SAG Awards tonight (as is Ryan Seacrest, who is probably busy with American Idol-related duties). It seems she's busy running errands, instead.

In her place is Maria Menounos.

Twitter isn't so happy about the substitution. At one point, "Maria Menounos" was trending for not-so-nice reasons:

To Menounos' credit, working a red carpet isn't easy, especially in the heat. (We've been there.) But we can't help feeling so awkward watching her.
