Here's how 'Weird Al' pulled off that 'Tacky' video
You may remember last summer when "Weird Al" Yankovic released Tacky, his spot-on spoof of Pharrell Williams' Happy. It stars some of our favorite comedians wearing appropriately wacky outfits, and we think it's pretty much the best.
So when we spoke with Al at the Grammys tribute to Nile Rodgers Tuesday night, we asked him how he shot the three-minute, one-take clip.
In short, it's the "most fun (he's) ever had on a music video shoot":
Everybody had to be there at the same time, I couldn't do Jack Black on Tuesday and Aisha Tyler on Thursday and Margaret Cho on Friday, they all had to be there at 2 o'clock on Saturday afternoon. We rehearsed it with a crew before they got there to make sure the lighting was going to work out and the cameraman had to know how to walk backwards through an entire building for four minutes.
To get it right:
We went through it six times, and we used take No. 6. It was a phenomenal amount of fun.
Here's the original Happy video for comparison:
Now excuse us while we dance around in our tackiest clothes for the rest of the night.
