Dakota Johnson's parents can 'maybe' see 'Fifty Shades'
Friday night, fans attended a packed screening of Fifty Shades of Grey, starring Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan, at the Ziegfeld Theater.
When Dornan disrobed, whoops were heard throughout the theater.
The film had its very kinky moments, involving spanking, whips and handcuffs. But much of it was an off-kilter, adult take on a romance: girl meets boy, boy woos girl, girl wants more than boy is prepared to give, boy demands she sign a contract agreeing to his idiosyncratic demands involving the infamous red room.
And yes, Johnson is a little wary that her body will be on full display in theaters.
"Sometimes I feel very nervous about it. I don't feel ashamed of my body. I think more women should be less ashamed of their bodies. It's an empowering thing. Obviously it's a scary thing that a lot of people in the world will see me completely naked. But it's not me. It's not like they're watching me in my room."
Johnson, the daughter of Don Johnson and Melanie Griffith, isn't sure if her parents will see the film.
"I'm starting to think that maybe they can. And if they get uncomfortable, they can leave. I would love for them to see what I've been working on so quietly," she told us during an interview.
And she's on board if the studio makes the next two films in the trilogy.
"I would hope so," she said.
