OMB: Beyonce wins her first Grammy of the day

The Grammys Bey-keover is underway, folks.

Beyoncé has picked up her first Grammy of the day for best surround sound album, as surround producer of her self-titled album.

Elliott Scheiner, the record's surround mix engineer, talked working with Queen B in the press room after accepting the honor. (Surround mastering engineer Bob Ludwig was not present.) When he first got the offer to mix the album, Scheiner was in Cuba:
I got a message, no calls, and all it said was, 'Beyonce.' ... I didn't know it was an album.
From there, he mixed the album's 17 tracks by himself in a matter of days, before sending them to the pop diva. So was he dancing alone in the studio, listening to all those sweet new Bey tunes?
Kinda. My kids would bust me on it.
We can't blame him.
