Is this the most haunting 'Walking Dead' episode yet?

Spoiler alert! The following contains massive spoilers for The Walking Dead mid-season premiere.

We don't know if we're more sad or more creeped out by the Walking Dead's return. In the first episode the show aired since it stole Beth away from us the show up and decides to kill another fan favorite character: Tyreese. This is us right now:

That's right guys, the moral center of our survivors is gone. After the group left the hospital Rick convinces them to head to Virginia (a whole new state!) where Noah says his family is in a safe community. Rick thinks it's worth trying (especially since Beth wanted to help Noah get there) and even though some are skeptic (cough cough Glenn cough cough) they make the trip.

Of course this is The Walking Dead, so there's no happy reunion between Noah and his family. The whole community is destroyed and we lose Tyreese to boot when he stops to look at some pictures on the wall of Noah's old bedroom. And not only do we have to watch him get bitten by a walker -- oh no -- we also have to see the ghosts of a whole bunch of our dearly departed characters as Tyreese hallucinates during his slow death. The specters of Beth, Bob, Lizzie, Mica and Martin (from Terminus) are all there to welcome Tyreese to the great beyond (with Hershel's ghost notably absent, maybe he missed the memo).

While we're not totally sure how we feel about the episode (so many emotions, so little time), but we do know one thing for sure: Nobody is safe.
