These Brits were pretty bad at coming up with new royal baby names
Go to a pre-Oscars bash thrown by the British Consulate-General Los Angeles to tout "GREAT Britain" and of course there's talk about all the fine work done by Brits. This year, 40 nominees in 20 categories at Sunday's Oscars are British.
But enough about that.
We thought we 'd ask some of the loyal subjects to give some input to everyone's favorite royals — Will and Kate — and asked for suggestions for names for Baby No. 2, which Kate is expecting in April.
British Consul General Chris O'Connor:
"Duchess Kate’s baby name? I’m not a name expert. I wouldn’t possibly suggest."
Sir Patrick Stewart:
In keeping with the spirit of the awards season, he replied with a smile: "Oscar, maybe?"
'Selma' actress Carmen Ejogo:
"Is she pregnant again? What’s the first one? George. If it's a girl – Georgina? No, that would not be a good idea."
'So You Think You Can Dance' exec Nigel Lythgoe:
"It’d be great to keep it down the family route. I don’t know if they’ve had a Charles when Charles is there. I love those royal names – Charles, George, Edward. Maybe they could go totally off the line and do a Leo. My grandson has just been born and he's Leo. Leo Lythgoe."
Oh well.
If only Benedict Cumberbatch or Eddie Redmayne had been there. We're sure they would have come up with some fun possible monikers for the little monarch.
