The best critic slams of 'Hot Tub Time Machine 2'

Apparently lightning only strikes once in a hot tub time machine.

At least that's what seems to have happened with Hot Tub Time Machine 2, which is getting roundly panned by critics despite the first Hot Tub nabbing decent reviews. The sequel currently has a low 16% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. We rounded up the best critics' slams of the sequel.

Paste BN's own Claudia Puig:

"For those who liked the first movie and find a plethora of penis jokes hilarious, this is a fitting sequel. But others should stay away." (Read the full review here.)

San Francisco Chronicle:

"It's just bad. It's boring, folks."

Entertainment Weekly:

"So witless and unfunny and shoddily made it makes The Hangover 2 look like The Godfather 2."

The Washington Post:

"If you have to ask yourself whether this film is for you, it isn't."

New York Daily News:

"This version of the time machine is more powerful — it’s made me go back and hate the original."

Chicago Sun-Times:

"Given the considerable comedic talents of Rob Corddry, Craig Robinson, Adam Scott et al., and the ragged, what-the-hell charms of the original Hot Tub Time Machine, it’s surprising how rotten this movie is from start to finish."

L.A. Weekly:

"If I could bubble a time machine to 2010, I'd advise (the director), 'Quit while you're ahead.'"
