Um, Lady Gaga, what's with those red rubber gloves?

Lady Gaga never fails to entertain us with her bold and weird fashion choices, and this latest one doesn't disappoint.

She wore an unusually normal gown for the Oscars red carpet, but of course she had to liven it up a little bit with some red rubber gloves that only look like they're suitable for the kitchen sink. Twitter was quick to jump on those ridiculous rubber gloves:

But Lady Gaga told ABC that there was a reason for them -- she wore them to cover up her enormous engagement ring from her absent fiancé, Taylor Kinney. She told ABC:
“I've just been rehearsing for this (Oscars performance), he's been wonderfully supportive. Hi, honey. He's at home watching. ... He has work  in the morning.”
