Disney World is renaming the Hollywood Studios theme park — again
In between announcing a new movie to make all parents insane and two new movies to making everyone jump for joy at the Disney shareholders meeting Thursday, CEO Bob Iger also let it slip that the Hollywood Studios theme park at Disney World is getting a name change. Via Variety:
When asked by a young guest if Hollywood Studios would be renamed, Iger inadvertently said it would, but tried to backtrack when realizing the plans had yet to be announced.
People who have visited Disney World before 2008 know that Hollywood Studios is the second name the park has had. It used to be called MGM Studios back in the day, and it also used to have working animation and production studios. It's also the home of, in our humble opinion, some of the best attractions Disney World has to offer, including the Tower of Terror (obviously the best), Star Tours and the Indiana Jones stunt show.
There are no details about what the new name might be, or if the whole direction of the park might change as Disney World revamps, but it's always going to be MGM Studios to us. (We may or may not have participated in the Indy stunt show as a child and it may or may not have been the greatest moment of our entire lives.)
