'Furious 7' secretly screened at SXSW with a Paul Walker tribute

Yesterday morning, SXSW announced there would be a surprise Paramount screening after midnight.

Fast, huh? Like, fast and FURIOUS?!

Furious 7 director James Wan revealed that, yes, Furious 7 was to be screened for fans.

According to Variety, fans started lining up for the movie four hours before the screening time. Producer Neal Moritz introduced Furious 7, saying, "I know Paul Walker would be smiling down on us. We lost a dear friend, brother and comrade when we were making this movie. When we decided to continue the movie, we were determined to honor his legacy." Moritz was joined onstage by director Wan, screenwriter Chris Morgan and actor Tyrese Gibson.

Once the screening began, fans clapped and cheered throughout the film. The audience was especially enthusiastic when Walker, who died Nov. 30, 2013, made his first appearance in the movie, and when he was in a climatic action sequence.

The movie gave Walker an "honorable exit," according to The Hollywood Reporter. The film ended with a tribute to the actor.
