Surprising places Andrew Dice Clay has turned up

If you grew up in the 1990s, this is how you remember Andrew Dice Clay: clad in black leather, sporting a pompadour and spitting out misogynistic rhymes during his stand-up comedy routines.

It was announced Friday that the comedian/actor has just signed on to do an autobiographical comedy series, Dice, with Showtime, debuting next year. It will follow his life in Vegas as he tries to restart his acting career while supporting a family, an ex-wife, ex-fiancée and girlfriend.

Though Dice Clay will play to type in the new show, he has taken some unexpected turns onscreen:

1. A Woody Allen film

He played Augie, the working-class brother-in-law forced to take on Cate Blanchett's suddenly penniless socialite in 2013's Blue Jasmine — this, after her investor husband (Alec Baldwin) embezzles his life savings.

2. 'Dharma and Greg'

Dice Clay did a cameo as a wrongly chosen celebrity attendee for an environmental benefit on the 1990s ABC comedy starring Jenna Elfman as a hippie married to a blue-blood attorney (Thomas Gibson from Criminal Minds).

3. In a business suit, onscreen

In case you ever wondered what he looked like in something other than black leather, here he is in his best Tony Soprano formal business wear. He played a Vegas mobster (named Tony Morano) alongside Rodney Dangerfield and Jerry Stiller in the 2000 comedy My 5 Wives.

4. 'Entourage'

He played himself, self-sabotaging a project that would have resuscitated both his career and Johnny Drama's. But at least he expanded his wardrobe to denim.

5. In Donald Trump's boardroom

In a pinstripe suit, no less. But he got the heave-ho for underperforming in a cupcake challenge in the second round of NBC's Celebrity Apprentice.
