'Mad Men' makeup secrets: How to look like Betty Draper in 5 easy steps!

Betty Draper: mother, ice queen, pretty lady. Even when you can't stand her, you still want to look like her. And now, thanks to Birchbox, you can!

But, how exactly do you do it? Mad Men makeup artist Lana Horochowski explains it all to Birchbox:

Step 1

"For a flawless complexion use a foundation such as ByTerry Light Expert Perfector, I like to apply with a brush and the blend with a damp Beauty Blender."

Step 2

"For her heavier eye looks I used Kevyn Aucoin 'Snow/Coal' Dual Eyeshadow, but this can also be achieved using the Benefit Cosmetics Smokin' Eyes palette found on Birchbox.com."

Step 3

"Then use the Smashbox Cosmetics Limitless Liquid Liner Pen and paint on the perfect cat eye!  Starting with a thin line in the inner eye, and gradually bring it out letting the liner get a little thicker towards the outside."

Step 4

"I LOVE the Anastasia Dipbrow pomade to fill in the brow."

Step 5

"And (finish with) Besame lipstick in 'Debutante Pink.' "

More of a Joan kinda girl? Then, do this:

Apply ByTerry Cellularose Blush Glace to apple of cheeks and blend with a Beauty Blender to create a peaches-and-cream complexion. Use Eyeko liner on upper lid to create the cat eye and Anastasia Dipbrow pomade in 'auburn' to fill in and accentuate the brow. Then apply Laura Mercier lipstick in 'Baby Lips' for the pouty lip.

Just follow Horochowski's general rule of thumb for getting that Mad Men look:
Definitely focus on your eyebrows. They need to be thicker and more defined. Then use a liquid liner, or if you want something easier, use a gel liner. Finish your eyes with fake eyelashes and mascara. For lips, do a colored matte lipstick in a pink, red, or coral.
