Why exactly is Derek Hough naked and freezing?

You know we love Dancing With the Stars pro Derek Hough.

And we love to see him shirtless, as he often is on the show.

But now he's outdoing himself with a new Instagram shot.

He's naked.

Wearing a mask.

And he looks like he's ready to blast into the future and procreate with aliens. Nice!

He's not starring in a sci-fi film, although that'd be fine, too.

It's cryotherapy, a trendy treatment that involves two to three intense minutes of exposing your body to freezing nitrogen gas.

CBS News explains that the extreme temperatures are said to stimulate the immune system. It's also used for pain relief and to treat tissue damage.

Hough, who is commuting between his New York Spring Spectacular show and DWTS in L.A. each week, probably has more than a few aches and pains.
